How to start logging your food
To make food tracking simple and intuitive, you can log your food in three different ways:
Through the Food diary
Log a meal or ingredients directly from the Food diary. Find it in the Nutrition tab in the app.
From a specific meal
In each recipe, you will find an 'Add to Food diary' button at the bottom of the page. From there, you can choose the meal type, and enter the number of servings. It's a super simple way to log the meals available in the app.
From the + button
On the Overview screen, you can tap the '+' button at the bottom of the screen, which contains a 'Log food' shortcut that will take you to the meals and ingredient Search page where you can then search for foods or meals to log.
Searching for foods to log
When you choose to log meals through the '+' button or Food diary, you can use the Search page to find full meals, single ingredients, or 'Quick add' your own foods or meals.
From the search view, you can find foods to add by using the following options:
Filters
The filter tabs are located right under the search bar and provide shortcuts to various foods and meals, making logging quick and easy with just a few clicks.
Recents: contains your most recently used meals and ingredients
Favorites: contains all of the meals you marked as 'favorite' (if you have favorited any meals)
Meal plan: contains all meals from your meal plan (if you have a meal plan)
Recipe book: contains all meals from the Recipe book (if you have a Recipe book)
Search
You can search for specific ingredients from our ingredient database or meals from your meal plan or Recipe book.
If you can't find what you are looking for, you will be provided with the option to 'Quick add'.
Quick add
If you can't find a specific ingredient or meal, (e.g. if you are eating out or have your own special breakfast etc.), you can always add it through the Quick add option.
Quick add creates a personalized entry where you provide the name of the meal or food and the calories, with the option to also add in the macros.
This makes it possible for you to add anything you want and provides a shortcut for adding these personally specific foods and meals, which will show up under the 'Recents' filter.
Barcode scanner
You can also scan the barcode of a specific product. Similar to the search function, if you don't find what you are looking for, you will be given the option to Quick add.
Portions and amounts
You can add serving sizes and amounts when logging a meal, ingredient, or quick add in two different ways:
Add a pre-set amount to the log by using the '+' button (e.g. 1 portion/serving of a meal and 100g of an ingredient)
When logging a meal, you can enter a specific serving size, and the calories and macros will adjust accordingly (e.g. if you enter in a 0.5 serving size, the calories and macros will be halved)
When logging an ingredient, you can choose from various unit options, depending on what is most suitable for the ingredient (e.g. grams, teaspoons, cups, etc.)
